The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, is considered the most sweeping reform of our food safety laws in more than 70 years. A Preventive Controls Qualified Individual means a qualified individual who oversees or performs 1) preparation of the Food Safety Plan, 2) validation of the preventive controls, 3) records review, 4) reanalysis of the Food Safety Plan, and other activities as appropriate to the food. This can be a trained employee or hired consultant.
